Vartan Ter-Avanesyan was born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1955. He earned his Masters of Fine Arts in Graphic Arts from the Repin's Academy of Arts in 1982. Shortly there after, in 1989, Vartan took a leap of faith and made the move to the United States of America. For the past seventeen years, Vartan has grown as an artist. As a freelance artist, Vartan has been able to progress his creativity in illustration work and he obtains a high level of experience in the textile business. Vartan’s skills are that of a chameleon, hence, he can alter his style based on the work he is given. Nevertheless, Vartan tends to work in a realistic manner. Vartan excels in various artist techniques, which are as follows: pencil, pen, ink, gouache, watercolor and etching. Most importantly, Vartan is conscious of time, which allows him to work quickly and efficiently. For a mix of two worlds, Vartan is able to combine his foreign eye with a modern twist in his work. Each piece will always be unique and one of a kind. His eye and hand consume his work with a sense of ease, which is a skill so few can acquire. Talent, skill and passion are the basic building blocks for which an artist must embark on. Vartan uses his dedication and training to the utmost degree of excellence. His creations will captive any audience. His gift is transposed onto others. Leaving the same sense, he feels, every time he sits down and begins to craft a masterpiece. For any artist, that intense raw emotion is a sign of a job well done and the satisfaction undeniable. In Vartan’s understanding that is how every artist must function.
