Cotton Candy Clouds, Neon Lights, and Whimsical Characters
Sonya Revell’s photographs are a carnival ride full of vibrancy, humor, and the fantastical. Swirling the fanciful with the commonplace, Sonya creates a more dazzling, more spectacular reality.
Her roller coaster ride with photography began its ascent in Louisville, KY where Sonya attended the same high school that Muhammad Ali also calls his alma mater. She packed up her bags and traveled to St. Louis, MO where she graduated from Webster University with a degree in Photography. During her time in College, Sonya received several awards for her work, including the coveted Nancy Underwood Scholarship for photography. Her images were also shown in numerous exhibitions.
Being the gypsy that she is, with a serious case of wanderlust, Sonya caravanned to Miami, FL leaving the Midwest, but not the midway behind. It was in Miami that Sonya expanded her canopy of clients to include names such as General Motors, Miami Living Magazine, and Leasa Industries. Three years later, ready to exit the house of mirrors that is Miami she picked up again, this time heading San Francisco, CA.
Sonya can now be found under the big top, wearing the hat of ringmaster as she directs her subjects to perform exquisite poses, awe inspiring stunts, and daring feats. So buy a bag of peanuts and find your seat because the show is about to begin.
