Mayumi Mitsuzono was born in Kagoshima, Japan and now lives in Tacoma, Washington. She earned her BFA in Illustration at the American Academy of Art, Chicago, IL.
Ms. Mitsuzono focuses her artworks on an array of artistic disciplines, with various projects and studies emphasizing design principles, life drawing, computer graphics and art theories. Her primary media are watercolor, pen and ink, color pencil and digital re-touching, and most works are mixed media.
With an exquisite, storytelling fine art style, her artistic influences include German Expressionism, Art Nouveau, Surrealism, Russian Constructivism, Japanese woodcut prints, plus contemporary Japanese graphic novels and cartoons. Her illustrations reflect an interest in psychological, sociological and historical themes.
Ms. Mitsuzono is seeking freelance projects from various fields, including editorial, advertising, books, children's books, CDs/DVDs, plus event, tour and movie posters.
