A native of the garden parish St. Ann, in Jamaica, W.I., Anthea D.A. McGibbon is prolific in art and as a writer. ((*l*))
In keeping with her name that means flower, the natural beauty of her environment is internalized making her the wellrounded artist she has been for over 15 years. _(*l*)_ As a fine artist, she photographs and paints images (from portraits, landscapes to flora) that comprises her pictoral essays on the world’s beauty and cultures, but more specifically within the Caribbean. ((*l*)) She works commercially — using both illustration and photography in her assignments (from weddings, fashion, portraiture to marketing) and offers a wide array of custom-made souvenir and gift items such as greeting cards, post cards, tee shirts, bags, clocks customised with her photographs. All expessing love affair with the arts as she works relentlessly to satisfy her clients. ((*I*)) Her tools include a 35mm manual camera, a digital camera, oils, pastels, acrylics, canvas, watercolours, transfers, computer software. Anthea's greatest moments include friends who have planned their wedding around her shooting timetable, the inspiration through the support of others to explore and express her many skills beyond her training, and her assisting others through charities.((*I*))
A former student at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, she continues to be mentored by internationally - acclaimed artists - designers, photographers, and painters, and works with US galleries. Having founded several local art clubs, Anthea currently hosts art appreciation workshops and tours for locals and tourists. _(*I*)_
