Design for me is not merely a method of communication; but it is also a means of information organization, and aesthetic formulation and expression, and problem solving. Speaking from the point of view of a predominently photographic background, I especially appreciate its interdisciplinary nature, and the history and progress of its diverse, rich, and dynamic evolution. In design, functional and creative solutions are employed, refined, and applied for the effective, sufficient or appropriate, and imaginative communication of a message's content. Accordingly, design also helps me better understand my experiences and interest. Through its' principles and methods I am able to engage the junctions between many correlating conceptual, semiotic, methodological, ideological, socio-economic, professional, and cultural, variables for insight, creativity, production and progress.
Now even though I am a recent graduate of the
Massachusetts College of Art's Photography program, I have a
un-nurtured, but competent, and very enthusiastic interest in design: web and print. I design for fun, expression, business and with purpose. I am dedicated to the success of my productions and always willing to collaborate with other creative, marketing/business, educational, amateur or professional endeavors. Aided by my academic background and experience, and my unique talents, I seek to foster my design skills, and would value from any available support, guidance, and feedback on the quality and progress of my developing design portfolio work.
I am especially interested in opportunities that involve collaborative studio interaction. I believe studio environments are great venues for sharpening professional skills, and are the ideal places to learn more about project management and marketing strategies.
I am proactive, dedicated, supportive, creative and technically savvy. I have good work habits and I'm a personable team player; I enjoy the company of other creative people as well as the challenge of independent project management. I like to explore the creative process, and I want to participate in the design and development of professional websites and printed materials.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography--including Graphic Design studio coursework and
College Work-Study experience from the
Massachusetts College of Art. At MassArt, I worked as a lab monitor in both the Computer Arts Learning Center and in the Photo Cage. I have studio training and capacities in: sketching, manual craft (xacto, mounting), 2-D design, color theory, typography, silkscreen printing, HTML, a little CSS and Javascript, and web publishing. This includes Windows- and Mac-based competency in QuarkXpress, Dreameweaver, and Adobe Photoshop--with a fundamental, but steadily increasing, sense of the GoLive, Illustrator, and Pagemaker applications.
Additionally, I have training in
