Amy Ubele is a student who has been studying art for most of her life. She is currently enrolled in her senior year at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, and upon graduation she plans to pursue both her own artwork, as well as a career teaching Elementary Art Education.
Throughout Amy's investigation into her own art, she has enjoyed painting portraits of friends and loved ones. Drawing inspiration from contemporary artists, as well as European masters, Amy is working on creating a body of work that contains portraits of people whom she feels extremely close to. Lately, this has involved searching through old family albums, and painting from photographs of her childhood. "I hope that my paintings will take on a life of their own. It is my goal to convey more than a simple likeness in each portrait. I want the viewers of the paintings to get a sense of personality and emotional presence. I have never felt more connected to my artwork than I do now."
