"...an inviting world, that's as bright as new paint." Kirkus Reviews, on artwork by Rex Barron for Eggbert, the Slightly Cracked Egg
Biography
Early interest in drawing and drama led to studies at UCLA and the Art Center College of Design. Eleven years in the animation studios of Los Angeles honed my visual storytelling skills, and required us layout artists to come up with a wide range of evocative settings quickly, often completely from our imagination. This was great training for doing children's picture books. Along with fantasy, I also love much Renaissance and 20th century American and European art (WPA, deco, regionalism). And, as Neitsche said, "Wthout music, life would be a mistake." I also make presentations to schools, and have done so across America and in Europe. Go to www.author-illustr-source.com/rexbarron.htm for info about my school presentations.
