Illustration / Visual Arts /Theatre Projects
I see my work divided in 2 parts: my work with and for children and my more personal biographical work such as paintings & installations
I’m schooled in Graphic and free arts.
The last few years my free art work has evolved towards more applied work, mostly illustration and theater-projects (installation and set building).
In both areas I feel attracted to the sensitivity of people. In my illustrations I m often using children-, animals., and fairy tale characters.
Therefore I experience working with & for children, as a great source of inspiration. I am fascinated by the communication process between the different age groups and therefore my works are often layered and open for all people of all ages.
My ideas come from personal physical or emotional experiences, as a women, mother, and wife inspired from my daily live, that reflects a sense of humor towards myself and a certain lightness towards life.
Some say that my colorful illustrations work as small theater stages, and they seem to appeal to different age groups: small children, young teens, young adults, adults of all ages, and the elderly.
I have illustrated children’s and educational books, a botanical magazine , also for the ecological association "Aurinkojuhla" (a book project and cards), and some occasional illustrations for woman’s magazines, educational magazines, as well as magazine covers, and cd jackets.
Other projects have included wall paintings for daycare centers and libraries, animation for theater projects and their visual realization (set-building) along with their marketing materials such as brochures, invitations and posters.
In early 2007, I formed a theatre association, which I own and co-run. I am always interested in illustrating packaging, catalogues, calendars and card games, children's book, book art, book covers, magazine art, c.d.covers, cd art, greeting cards, invites, posters, and brochures.
