What is important is the journey, not the destination.

Biography
ETHEREAL LIGHT...................
The current that underlies my work is the concept of serenity in a world of chaos. I am attracted to the simplicity of the minimal and I make every effort to be a faithful visual recorder of the world around me. I wish for my images to distill scenes ranging from the ephemeral to the eternal, from the abstruse to the symbolic. As a dedicated artist, I strive constantly to explore and expand my definition of the splendor and mysterious in life and nature. My images have an ethereal and enduring quality................................................................................................................................................

WORKING IN THE U.S.A.......................
Working in the U.S.A. is significant in its authentic view of an economic and racially diverse people. The images speak for themselves. Shorn of stereotypes, U.S. workers emerge quietly, truthfully and powerfully through portraiture in which faces as well as the technologies of the time are captured. Because social, economic and political changes in the United States are occurring rapidly, I realized it is important to document the country's people as they are now.
This project, now in its third year, includes more than 300 different occupations of the American worker. Working in the USA has been the subject of numerous radio and television programs as well as many magazine articles. A book of the same name will be available in the spring of 2005.......................................................................................................................................................................................................

PROCESS STATEMENT.....................
All my gelatin-silver prints are fine quality handcrafted prints personally made by myself to my exacting standards. Each photograph is individually printed on fiber-based archival paper and toned for permanence to meet archival requirements, and matted with acid free museum boards. No images have been digitally produced or altered. For more information, please visit www.workingintheusa.com
