First I discovered how yummy wax crayons were, then I found out how much fun they were to colour with. As I grew up I moved into poster paints and Etch-a-Sketch and now I work in both acrylics and scratchboard mixed with watercolour.
People always ask what inspires me. Everything and anything. I love the art of Bruegel, Rousseau, and Hundertwasser. Folk, medieval, and eastern art inspire me to try new things and "mix it up" a little.
I've done a variety of illustrations from education and research to publishing , children's books, magazines and newspapers. My work has been used in advertising for the food industry, bus kiosks and billboards, and by designers for logos, annual reports and other corporate materials. The pace is fast but it keeps me on my toes.
My husband and I live in the countryside with the frogs, mosquitos, deer, and woodpeckers. When I am not spying on the birds, I work in a nice sunny studio with our two cats, Floyd and Spike, who contribute cat hair to each illustration.
I do not charge extra for the cat hair.
