Upon graduation from the University of the Arts in 1998 I began freelance illustration. Concentrating on combining figures and natural elements I enjoy creating a decorative environment in my compositions. My base style is semi realistic with a fantasy twist. The subjects involved lend themselves to a diverse combination of markets such as, adult, young adult, fantasy, botanical, children’s, fiction and non fiction. Most of my illustrations have been editorial jobs but I have also produced work for book covers, book interiors, mini books, cd covers, advertising labels, institutional annuals, collateral, gift cards and private commissions. All artwork starts with the traditional thumbnails and sketches based on research. I then complete my full values in either Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter. Upon approval from the client I begin my final in Corel Painter or if time allows traditional acrylic and oils. I enjoy the challenge of visually portraying a message and find the end result of collaboration and hard work extremely satisfying.
