When I moved to NYC 25 years ago, I quickly learned that no matter what your education or skill level, your entry level job can include many demands. I was lucky that with a Fine Arts major and a few courses in graphic design, my boss gave me a chance to design a few simple catalogs and clothing hang tags. When the company was bought out and merged with another, I was given the job of art director. But I also had to do all the catalog and advertising copy writing! Fair deal. I'm now able to bring both these skills to my clients and I'm grateful for the early job experience. And I also had the good luck to work on my different types of projects. From catalogs and postcards to ads, illustrations and logos, I can offer "one-stop" shopping to potential clients.
