"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." Pablo Picasso

Biography
I grew up in Paris, graduated law school and moved to Chicago in 1992 to study design and Art. I have cut my teeth artistically on the primary hues in the landscape of the South of France, Provence. I am minimally influenced by other artists, although I have a voracious appetite for Van Gogh, Rothko, Kandinsky, Miro, Picasso, among others.
I work in two starkly contrasting styles. My vividly abstract acrylics and my playful, oil-marker myriad-character drawings that I named “Tourlicoulis”.
I have always been attentive to aesthetics, attempting to achieve uniformity, harmony, sensual elegance through the use of positive and negative space. Through my paintings, my attempt is to bring the viewer into a whimsical world. I paint to tell stories. My goal is to create balance and motion through the use of dynamic lines, curves, shapes and color intensity. I paint to communicate an atmosphere, something warm that feels good. The rhythm and dynamics of my work interact like imaginary musical sounds and dancing notes.
