Ever since I was a spunky little kid with braided hair and fingers sticky from peanut butter and jelly,
ready to go wild with a Crayola crayon in hand, I've loved the idea of expressing communication through art
and design.
I colored my way to Massachusetts College of Art in Boston Massachusetts, where I received a Bachelor of
Fine Arts while working for the Reporter Newspaper Family in Boston. While there, I was appointed
Production/Layout manager and successfully launched a brand new community newspaper; maintained websites,
handled all aspects of design for both the newspapers and advertisements, worked with the out-of-house
press to prepare files for print, and was chief marketing/media kit designer.
Soon after graduating college, I needed to sharpen my crayon, so I took my wonderful experiences with the
Reporter Newspapers and applied them to a position as a graphic artist with the Boston Business Journal.
While there, I was given additional responsibilities as an Event Marketing Coordinator, where I learned
to work directly with POP, event graphics, invitations, and coordinating graphic budgets. I also handled
production responsibilities, and worked directly with the sales team to create advertisements and layouts
for clients that included automotive, banking, real estate, and other business-related companies.
After a year, I decided to expand my crayon collection to a sturdy 24-colors, and accepted a position
on the other end of the East Coast in Florida, at a newspaper owned by Gannett, Inc. While there, I was
promoted to Lead Graphic Specialist, and expanded my design experience immensely by working with a range
of clients: fashion, education, health care, entertainment, dining, retail, sports, media, classified,
automotive and real estate, just to name a few. I gained extensive experience in editorial layout,
budgeting, and design as well. I was appointed liason for the graphics team to work across the board with
anything and everything graphics/layout/design related while leading a team of four graphic artists.
In addition, I was the point graphic artist for redesigns, and successfully redesigned four chief products,
resulting in increased revenue, and launched many other niche publications.
Each time I gain a new experience in design, I feel I am adding a sharp new brightly colored crayon to my
collection. I am comforatable in layout under deadline, and I also produce flyers, posters, and brochures,
as well as run photo shoots. If a project comes my way, whether it is under a 24-hour deadline or a monthly
deadline, on glossy paper or newsprint, I will always work my hardest to produce the highest-quality,
effective and professional products.
Two years ago, I was handed a newly sharpened crayon and am currently a part of a creative team at an
advertising agency. I am one of two designers and I am responsible for a variety of design, including
print, radio and television. Recent projects have included a 150 page glossy book, a 50 page glossy magazine,
postcards, POP design, and print ads among others.
It's now time that I start embellishing a brand new coloring book, now that I have such a wonderful assortment
of these crayons. I have the knowledge and experience to increase revenue (I have over an 90% selling rate for
speculative ads); I work my best under deadline; I have extensive experience working with in-house and
out-of-house presses and file preparation; I am comfortable meeting directly with clients for presentations,
brainstorming sessions and campaigns; I have experience training and leading a team of graphic artists; and
I am confident in Mac and PC platforms so much so that I can troubleshoot my way out of computer issues.
I have additional experience in writing (I have printed articles) and copywriting as well as photography.
I look forward to seeing what other crayons I can collect and combine together to make even stronger,
cleaner, fresh designs in the near future, as well as continue my creative writing, photography and painting
hobbies.
"We worked with Sarah for the first time in July. My client was interested in putting 2 calendars together,
so we put an ad out on Craigslist. Sarah responded to the ad and we started working together soon thereafter.
From the very beginning, we noticed that Sarah's communication was impeccable – we have worked with a good
number of lousy people over the past few months prior where it was like pulling teeth to get people to
communicate with us effectively. Sarah was a breath of fresh air! Although she was hundreds of miles away,
you would think that she lived next door the way she consistently communicated with us. She was extremely
thorough and detailed in all of her correspondences and remained positive and friendly throughout the entire
project. She also worked very quickly and went the extra mile to ensure that her customers were happy,
even if it meant staying up way past "business hours" to complete a task. Although her job was to simply
lay out our calendar, she took the initiative to actually show us how to get it printed, did ample research
on the best printing companies for us to use, and thoroughly walked us through the printing process… all on
her own time. After the project was over, we felt like we had a new friend! Her detail and positive & personable
interactions makes her stand out far from her competition, and that why we're certain that Simplicity Graphics
will be wildly successful. Sarah/Simplicity Graphics represents customer service at its best! Thanks again for
your superb service, Sarah…. We look forward to working with you in the near future!"

We needed a talented designer that could take on a variety of design responsibilities with a good attitude
and strong skill set. Well, we found her. Sarah, from the very beginning, has been a sheer pleasure to work
with. Her portfolio stood out among the list of candidates we spoke regarding the layout of our high-end
personal history books and corporate tribute pieces. Upon working with Sarah, it became increasingly clear
that we made the right choice. Her willingness to find just the right layout of our products and her strong
aptitude for communication are certainly qualities that we appreciate."

"You have done a SUPERB job with the creative ads for Inside Out Furniture presentation. Not only did you take
the time to understand the client, your graphics and style is EXACTLY what this company is all about. The ads
are clean, very professional and any person can look at them and tell that they are not dealing with a
Walmart-type furniture store. I am very confident that our customer will see the full benefits of this
entire program… THANKS TO YOUR WORK."
"I LOVE what y'all have done with the Pelican!! VERY crisp, fresh, and fun!!"

"I want to thank you again for the wonderful job you did with Senior Living. The design is exceptional -
but you always do a great job. I also want to thank you for remaining cool with all of the changes. It was
a miserable experience, but you were exceptional."
