Ailbhe, Ester and Louise Barrett are three artists, all in their twenties who work from their home in Granagh, Co Limerick. Educated by their parents, Maurice and Marie, and having shown an early interest in drawing and painting, they had plenty of time to develop their skills finding inspiration in the local landscape and animals, particularly horses.
Ester is the recipient of two international awards. She was voted best young artist by the visiting public at the Chateau Beauregard International Exhibition in 1999. In 2002 she was awarded the first prize in the oil painting category by the New Jersey Equine Artists Association for her painting, `In the Swell`.
Scotland on Sunday columnist Martin Hannon (author of “Rock of Gibralter”) wrote in August of this year: “Ester possesses a genuine talent for depicting racehorses in a fashion which captures all the dynamism and beauty of the delightful animals.”
Ailbhe paints mostly Irish landscapes and Louise paints a wide variety of subjects especially hunting scenes. She is a keen follower of the hunt.
They have had numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
